Nianfeng Liu from CRIPAC, NLPR has won “Best Student Paper Award” in the 9th IAPR International Conference on Biometrics (ICB) which held in Halmstad, Sweden in 13-16th June. The title of the rewarded paper is “Accurate Iris Segmentation in Non-cooperative Environments Using Fully Convolutional Networks”.
ICB was established in 2006 as a biennial conference by merging AVBPA (Audio- and Video-based Person Authentication), ICBA (International Conference on Biometric Authentication) and other biometric workshops, and since then, ICB has established itself as a premier international conference in biometrics. The rewarded paper firstly introduces the multi-scale fully convolutional neural networks to solve noisy iris images in non-cooperative environments which greatly improve the segmentation accuracy.
